As of 17.1 (October 2019) you can now download Dyalog APL without delay. However, registering immediately avoids the startup banner, and makes you eligible for a limited period of updates.

I have left Morten's original post below, but as of 15.0 (late June 2016) you can now download Dyalog APL free of charge for educational or non-commercial use. The default now is 64 bit Unicode, and is available for Windows, Linux and OS/X. You still must complete the application form at, and we still must manually approve your application, which is usually done within one working day (don't forget we're based in the UK!).

For the Raspberry Pi, you can download a 32 bit version .. see We intend to issue a 64 bit version for the Raspberry Pi once a 64-bit version of Raspbian becomes generally available.
