Updating Dyalog

Postby GLarocque_Canada on Sun Feb 05, 2023 9:43 pm

I tried to update version 17.1 using the patch.dws workspace after I downloaded the .dpf files for version 17.1. However, it does not work. The error message is that the ".dpf file does not match executable". Am I missing something? Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Guy,

Please check that you have the right .dpf file for the version of 17.1 that you are using.

I can patch 17.1 Unicode 32-bit successfully with the 17.1 Unicode 32-bit patch file named 2878b11a.dpf

But, I will get that error message that you mention if I use the 17.1 Unicode 64-bit patch file f4d8b800.dpf

Please contact me at Dyalog Support if this does not help and we can then investigate further.

Regards,

Vince

Dear Vince,

Thank you for your reply.

I downloaded the file 171U64_alldpf.zip, which contains the 4 dpf files
indicated for the 64 unicode version. So, as far as I can judge, I did not
confuse the 32 vs 64 bit version. Also, I was wondering if the workspace patch.dws
is the right way to go.
However, I am having a second look at the issue. Do each .dpf file correspond to
a specific .exe file?
To update dyalog.exe, use the file f4d8b800.dpf must be used?
To update dyalogrt.exe, use the file 65dc206.dpf to update?
To update dyalog.dll, use the file 2e269c2a.dpf to update?
To update dyalogrt.dll, use the file 584c1bb8.dpf to update?

Maybe I should have seen that in the first place, but I think that I was
too anxious to get the updates done... :)

Regards

Guy

Hello Guy,

Yes, those are the right file names for each .exe and .dll. They are listed on the MyDyalog website Downloads->Patches. But, you do not need to know the exact filenames if you use the batch method.

Start Dyalog or the patch wizard with a right click and Run as administrator.

Choose "Apply a batch of patches using either method."

Patch From, tick Directory and point it at a directory containing all 4 .dpf files. The patch wizard itself will choose the right .dpf file to use.

Regards,

Vince
